The Legend of Padmavati

Our favourite couple Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone are back together for another historical movie “Padmavati”, directed by Leela Bhansali. The movie is set to be released on 1st December 2017.

Ranveer and Deepika however are not a couple in this movie. Deepika is playing the role of Rani Padami and Shahid Kapoor as her husband Raja Rawal Ratan Singh. Ranveer on the other hand, will be seen as the villain king Allauddin Khilji of the Khilji dynasty.

The movie’s budget is around 1.6 billion inr and expected to make double the price after release; however, there are a few hurdles in the way. The SRKS organization (Shri Rajput Karni Sena), a Rajput caste organization founded in 2006, based in Jaipur, Rajasthan, started a protest when there was a rumor that Leela Bhansali was trying to add romantic scenes between Khilji and Padami.

The organization is strictly against movies that show Hindu girls romancing with Muslim heroes, especially historical figures.

“Padmavati” is a story of the queen of Mewar Rani Padami and the second king of the Khilji dynasty, Allauddin Khilji. The story follows the invasion of Delhi’s Khilji ruler on Chatoor, Mewar, and falling in love with Rani Padami and the sacrifices and bravery of the Rajputian princesses. The movie has a lot of twists that will keep you stunned to your seat.

Not a big fan of Indian movies, however this movie did attract me due to the historical background of the story and how tragically it ended. The chemistry between Deepika and Ranvir is like putting hydrogen peroxide near a match stick. Yes it burns!

Ranvir Singh can be seen in his full glory, totally consuming himself in the role of Allauddin Khilji with a very rabid image. Deepika once again proves she is a long lost Rajputian princess owning the role like she did in Leela Ram and Baji Rao Mastani. Personally I cannot wait for this movie to be released as the trailer is already keeping me pinned to the screen.

Many however are wondering if Padamvati is a true story or just a fictional tale by Malik Muhammad Jayasi. Whatever the case may be, one thing is indeed real, a Khilji king did attack Chatoor, Sri Lanka and won in 13th century. Also, movies don’t have to follow any rules of right and wrong. They are just art and entertainment. I cant wait for this movie to hit the cinemas.

Stephen Paddock, a ‘lone wolf’ white terrorist

The killing of 59 innocent people in Las Vegas by Stephen Paddock, a white male, has reignited the issue of who gets to be called a terrorist. Again, reading the headlines of most of the western media houses gives us the impression that a white person can only be a lone-wolf or might have some mental issues if he ruthlessly kills dozens of innocent people.

The rule is simple, for the same or even less severe crime, a Muslim perpetrator is automatically termed a terrorist, unless proven otherwise. While for white males it is the other way around.

Stephen Paddock opened indiscriminate fire on a large crowd gathered for an outdoor festival in Las Vegas, killed 59 and injured 529 others, but he was instantly humanized in the mainstream media by terming him a country music lover. Despite committing the most deadliest mass shooting incident in American history, Mr. Paddock escapes the title of being called a terrorist, thanks to his white blood.

Witnesses described the massacre as “nonstop gunfire” as around 22,000 panicked crowd started to run to save their lives. A truly terrorizing and bone-chilling tale of terror. However, since no Muslim is involved, many are afraid of calling it an act of terrorism.

A total of 23 weapons were found in Paddock’s hotel room which included a handgun, around 20 rifles and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. A federal law enforcement official stated that many rifles were used during the attack by Mr. Paddock. He did intend to cause maximum damage and kill as many has possible.

The need of the hour is that we call a spade a spade. A terrorist is a terrorist no matter what his religion or color. Stephen Paddock was a terrorist and he happened to be a christian of white color.

The mystery of the killer “Blue Whale” game

In today’s world almost everyone has a phone. Hundreds of different phone models are available and as many games are developed each day. With so many choices available, almost everyone seems to be addicted to playing some kind of game on their mobile phone. Some are addicted to Candy Crush and Ludo Star, while others are hooked on FIFA and games like Pokémon Go. If there is nothing else to do, we always have a game to play on our phones no matter where we are.

While most of the games are available to public all around the world, there are games that are not publicly available. Such games, in fact, choose you as its victim. Yes you can only be part of a game by being CHOSEN by the administrator.

Recently a game has taken the world by storm after it was disclosed by a journalist in Russia. The game “blue whale’’ is known to have killed many teenagers by making them commit suicide. The ‘curators’ or the ‘taskmasters’ would look for hashtags like #i_am_whale #bluewhalechallenge #curatorfindme on social media and then decide which one to choose as its victims.

So how can a game make a person commit suicide? That’s a very important question.

The blue whale is a game where the administrator gives you various challenges on daily basis for 50 days which you have to complete. Although initially, the game involves some simple tasks like listening to music or taking a walk but most of the tasks are very dangerous.

The challenges include self mutilation, waking up earlier, climbing buildings and cranes, craving on the person own arm or hand, poking needles into one’s body, standing in dangerous places, use a knife or razor to make the shape of a whale on their wrist or leg, killing animals and filming it, watching psychedelic horror videos in the middle of the night sent by the administrator, and ending on the last task of committing suicide.

The game was first unearthed in 2013 in Russia after a few teenagers took their own lives to fulfill the last challenge. Panic over the online challenge was prompted by the death of two teenagers. The girls, aged 15 to 16, took their lives by jumping off of buildings and roofs.

A victim named Yulia, 15, uploaded a blue whale picture on social media with the caption “end” on which a fellow player Veronika, 16, who also took her life by jumping off a roof, commented “sense is lost…end”.

This game is not just taking lives in Russia, in fact, there have been cases reported from India, Brazil, USA, Argentina, Bulgaria, China, Chile, and many other countries.

Russian officials arrested the creator of this game, Philipp Budeikin, in May this year; however, the game hasn’t stopped spreading. The game has reportedly taken 130 lives who were all teenagers. During investigation, the curator admitted to have personally encouraged at least 16 teenagers to commit suicide. He denies having any role in other suicides.

Budeikin, a former psychology student who was expelled from his university, said during an interview that he gave those people the understanding and contact they needed and thus made them commit suicide. He claimed his victims died very happily.

Budeikin told a Russian newspaper that “there are people and there is a biological waste. those who do not represent any value for society. Such people will only cause harm to society.”

“I was cleaning our society of such people”, he explained.

When asked if he was deliberately trying to make the young victims commit suicide, he replied that he “truly” was doing that and also added “don’t worry, you’ll understand everything. Everyone will understand.”

Budeikin has been sentenced to three years in jail which according to many is a very soft sentence for murder. There had been two other arrests related to the game with one being a female from Kamchatka, Russia.

Budeikin was just the creator of the game. He has many administrators in his “death group” and even after his sentence, the game is spreading like wild fire among teenagers. It’s high time we keep a close eye on our youngsters so they do not get trapped in the vicious circle of such psycho games.

Mother kills her son to protect daughter-in-law

A 45-year-old woman from Mankhurd, Mumbai, strangled her own son to death on Tuesday evening to protect her daughter-in-law from his violence. Nadeem Naim, her 25-year-old son, was a drug-addict and routinely used to subject his wife to domestic violence. The mother, named Anwari idrisi, was arrested the next morning for the murder of her son.

Nadeem married a woman from Allahabad two years ago who at the time did not know about his addiction. Soon after their marriage, he started subjecting her to severe domestic violence.  Five months ago, she left his place after being fed up of his daily violent behavior and drug abuse.

Nadeem’s mother reportedly did not want her to leave so she brought her back promising her that she wouldn’t let her son do drugs or beat her again and that she will save her if it happened again. Eventually the wife gave in to her mother-in-law’s requests and came back to Mankhurd.

On Tuesday night Nadeem came home under the influence of drugs. Realizing that he will get violent Anwari sent her whole family to spend the night at neighbors which infuriated Nadeem even further and he started beating Anwari.

When he got tired of beating her, Anwari pushed him towards the steel ladder and strangled him to death with her dupatta.

Anwari spent the whole night crying beside his body and confessed to his wife about the murder when she came back home in the morning at five, reported the police of Mankhurd.

She confessed to the police that she killed her son because he was going to harm her daughter-in-law again. Anwari was immediately arrested and booked under section 302 of the Indian penal code.

The event bears an uncanny resemblance to the Bollywood cult movie “Mother India” in which the main protagonist, Radha, also kills her son, Birju, over a girl.

Domestic violence is a common problem in Pakistan and India and also the reason of destruction of many homes and mothers like Anwari idrisi.

Mahmood Lodhi, acclaimed as the greatest exponent of chess in the country, duly achieved the distinction of becoming the first-ever Grand Master as he won the 8th Asian Seniors Chess Championship in Auckland, New Zealand, recently.

“Achieving the GM title was my long team dream and I could not sleep for two nights after this accomplishment for Pakistan’” he told media at the Quaid-e-Azam International Airport, Karachi, on his return from New Zealand.

His buddy and International Master, Shahzad Mirza, greeted him alongwith an official of the Mind Sports Association of Pakistan (MSAP).

Ladybird Grammar School, St Patrick High School register victories in Omar Trophy Inter-School Cricket

Ladybird Grammar School and St Patrick High School registered victories over their respective rivals in the latest league matches of the Omar Trophy Inter-School Cricket Tournament 2016, being organized by the Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association (PVCA).

Abdul Rafay’s fine all-round performance guided Ladybird Grammar School to an exciting three-wicket victory over CAA Model School in the Group A encounter at the Eastern Star Ground while Mohammad Usman’s exhilarating century powered St Patrick High School to an easy 72-run win over Foundation Public School in the Group G fixture at the Hill Park Ground.

Ladybird Grammar School bowled CAA Model School out for 127 in 35.4 overs despite conceding 35 extras.

Leg-spinner Asadullah (4-23) ran through the top-order with medium-pacer Abdul Rafay (2-17), later adjudged Man of the Match, and left-arm spinner Amanullah (2-19) sustaining the pressure.

None of the CAA Model School batsman could play a big knock against the steady spin-cum-pace with opener Mohammad Maaz (22 off 49 balls) being the top scorer.

CAA Model School, however, opened up the contest while defending its modest score and they seemed on top when Ladybird Grammar School lost the sixth wicket with 70 still needed for victory.

The 44-run eight wicket stand between Abdul Rafay and Anas Ali brought Ladybird Grammar School back into the game after medium-pacer Asna Sarfraz (3-28) and leg-spinner Umar Shah (2-25) had routed the top half of the batting line-up.

It was still anybody’s game when Anas Ali was dismissed for 22 off 27 balls at the total of 102 but Abdul Rafay’s unbeaten 21 off 46 balls allowed Ladybird Grammar School to reach the target of 128 in the 31st over with three wickets standing.

Mohammad Usman, whose dazzling century earned him Man of the Match award, played the key role in St Patrick High School 72-run win over Foundation Public School.

Batting first, St Patrick High School amassed 255 for eight in the allotted 40 with opener Mohammad Usman whacking two sixes and 12 fours in his 71-ball 100. Exxon John’s unbeaten 38 off 47 balls prevented them from getting bowled out after a middle-order collapse.

The spin duo of Osama Khan (2-41) and Mohammad Abbas (2-44) pulled it back for Foundation Public School after the early onslaught from Mohammad Usman.

Chasing a target of 256 in 40, Foundational Public School got off to a solid start as openers Bilal Khurram (32 off 58 balls) and Osama Khan (28 off 41 balls) added 60 for the first wicket.

The introduction of spinners slowed down the rate of scoring and Foundation Public School lost wickets at regular intervals to be restricted to 183 for nine.

St Patrick High School’s off-spinners Zayan Ahmed (2-36) and Exxon John (1-36) were instrumental in choking the run-rate and medium-pacer Syed Shayan Zaheer (2-24) return to clean the tail.

Saif-ul-Haq’s unbeaten century powers Kamran Public School in Omar Trophy Inter-School Cricket

Saif-ul-Haq’s brilliant unbeaten century powered Kamran Public School to a massive 132-run victory over Falcon House Grammar School in their Group H encounter of the Omar Trophy Inter-School Cricket Tournament 2016, being organized by the Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association (PVCA), at the TMC Ground on October 3.

Saif-ul-Haq, adjudged Man of the Match, scored an even hundred which took the Kamran Public School total to an imposing 282 for six in the allotted 40 overs. In reply Falcon House Grammar School was bowled out for 150 in 36 overs.

Electing to bat, after winning the toss, Kamran Public School was provided an enterprising start by Hashir Ansari (23 off 12 balls) and Hasan Jafri (21 off 18 balls) as there were flurry of boundaries in the 56-run opening partnership.

Coming in at number four, Saif-ul-Haq sustained the momentum until the end of innings, finishing with an unbeaten 100 off 92 balls with the help of 10 fours. He was ably supported by Abdul Moiz (34 off 29 balls), Aliyan Mahmood (29 off 47 balls) and Ali Hasan (23 off 43 balls).

Off-spinner Affan-ur-Rahman (2-26) and medium-pacer Nafay Yar Khan (2-53) were the successful bowlers for Falcon House Grammar School who didn’t help their cause by sending down 40 wides during the innings.

Chasing a formidable target of 283 in 40 overs, Falcon House Grammar School wilted under the scoreboard pressure. Opener Sikander Ali Khan (37 off 48 balls) and Mohammad Mutawakkil (25 off 53 balls) contributed substantially but they also couldn’t force the pace.

The clinical bowling performance of Kamran Public School conjured a resounding win for their side. Medium-pacers Hammad Ahmed and Anas Ilyas set the tone by picking early wickets with the new ball and the issue was wrapped up by the spin trio of Mohammad Ovais (4-35), Ubaidullah Khan (2-14) and Ali Hasan (2-20).
