some years ago I was also one of those people who make fun of people when they are trying to follow deen after a heartbreak or some kind of incident in their lives. they are termed as "naye musalman" because they try to follow basic commands given by God.
years later, when i was knocked down, fell down on my knees and i had to go back to him in order to ask for betterment, i heard the same kind of things. and thats when I realize,
خدا کے پاس جانے کا کوئ وقت نہیں ہوتا۔
just like how you don't shower for days and then you stink, do you think "what's the use now, I am already dirty"? No. You get up. You take a shower. You change into better clothes. its the same with your creator. no matter for how long you have stayed away from him, he is there to hear your one voice. he is there to hear you always, no matter how much you are covered in sins.
so we, who are dependent on him for each breathe, who are we to judge someone's relationship with God? who are we to label them something insulting? who are we to give them taunts of their past when he, himself, who has the power of whole universe and beyond, doesn't say a word and accepts the broken being as his own?
if someone didn't pray in past and now trying to, if someone doesn't wear hijab everywhere, if someone used to have a night club life and now going on a hajj, if someone is genuinely trying to change him/herself, you should not come with your insensitive remarks about their past, don't laugh at them, don't make fun of them, instead try and learn empathy and kindness from the one who is most merciful. if someone tries and follow the schedule of ibadat only in ramzan ul Mubarak, encourage. so that being might continue it afterwards as well.
become a reason to attract people towards deen instead of pulling them out of it.
as it was said in sheher e zaat,
وہ وجود نہیں دیکھتا، وہ تو دل دیکھتا ہے، نیت دیکھتا ہے۔
pray. pray your heart out. with tears, without tears, with words, without words.
for sure, he listens to you. for sure, he waits for you to come to him.
